Trust Ashbusters for Chimney Sweep & Fireplace Repair Services in Chattanooga

Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Chattanooga is a city known for its rich history, natural beauty, and wide range of entertainment options. Some favorite local spots the outdoor enthusiasts in the area enjoy include:

  • Lookout Mountain: This mountain is famous for its breathtaking views, and it’s also home to Rock City, Ruby Falls, and Incline Railway – all must-visit scenic attractions in the area.
  • Chattanooga Riverwalk: This path is 13 miles long and runs along the Tennessee River, offering beautiful views of the water and the surrounding mountains.
  • Walnut Street Bridge: Did you know there’s a pedestrian bridge that connects downtown Chattanooga to the North Shore?
  • Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park: This park commemorates the Civil War battles fought in the area – it offers hiking trails and is home to some historical sites.

Or, if outdoor fun isn’t as much your thing, check out the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, Hunter Museum of American Art, or Chattanooga History Center.

Need to do some shopping or looking to grab a bite to eat? The North Shore District has plenty of options to explore, and be sure to stop by the seasonal farmers market, Chattanooga Market, if the weather is right for it.

Needless to say, we love having the opportunity to come to town, and we fortunately have many wonderful customers throughout the Chattanooga and Harrison area. If you need chimney or fireplace services in these cities or anywhere surrounding, make us your go-to crew – we’d love to help you out.

Building totally in flames and falling apart.
Old masonry brick with a crack going sideways.
Tall chimney with older cap - we fix leaky chimneys.

We recently hired Ashbusters for a large fireplace refacing and they did a magnificent job. Our experience with Shon, who sold us the project, and Pam who worked with us from the office side, was met with patience and professionalism. Ian, who crafted the gorgeous hand sculpted stone refacing, exceeded any expectations that I had. His assistant Jackson was great as well. Both Ian and Jackson respected the covid mask wearing request, as well, and were very professional while working in our home. They left the place so clean when it was all done, too. We had hired Ashbusters in the past for chimney sweep and other repairs and still continue to use them for that as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

How Long Will My Chimney Service Take?

How long your service takes can vary depending on a number of factors. While some basic inspections or chimney sweeps might be done in under an hour, more involved services may take longer. Here are some things that can affect the length of your service:

  • Number of flues: Some homes have multiple flues (e.g. one for a fireplace and another for a stove or furnace). Obviously, more flues to work on will result in a longer service time, overall.
  • Chimney size/type: The size and design of your chimney can play a role in how long the service takes. For instance, a large masonry chimney that vents wood smoke usually requires more upkeep than a stainless steel venting system for a gas fireplace. All chimneys have different maintenance needs, so how complex your system is can affec the length of the service.
  • Type of service being provided: Are you getting a routine inspection done or do you need glazed creosote removed? Are you replacing a chase cover or needing your chimney crown rebuilt? The specific service required will play a big impact on your overall service time.
  • Current condition of the chimney: Older or neglected chimneys may require more attention than a system that’s newer and regularly maintained. In addition, if cracks, blockages, or structural issues are found during an inspection, these problems may need to be addressed right away, thus extending the service time.
  • Accessibility of the chimney and venting components: If your chimney is in an area that is difficult to access (for example, on a steep roof or through a tight crawl space), the technicians may need more time to set up the necessary equipment to safely reach the chimney.
  • Weather conditions at the time of service: Weather can also impact how long your service will take – or even if the service is possible to do. Heavy rain, snow, or high winds may slow down or postpone certain tasks, such as chimney cap installation, flashing replacement, tuckpointing, or other exterior repairs.

In general, chimney services can range from a quick sweep lasting one hour to more intensive projects that span several hours or days. If you’re looking for a more specific time estimate, the best course of action is to give us a call and let us know more about your needs and unique situation.

Time & Money-Saving Chimney Tips for Homeowners

Chimney maintenance is a necessary investment, but we get that it’s not the most fun thing to spend your money on or plan around. Here are some tips to help with saving you some time and money on your next service.

Tip #1: Schedule Your Chimney Sweep During Spring or Summer

Most people don’t think much about their fireplace (and chimney) inspection until the weather cools down and it’s time to use it again in the fall. Booking this maintenance ahead of time, though, can save you time later on in the year. For one, you’ll be all set and ready to go when it’s time to light that first fire. Secondly, should repairs be in order, you can have them addressed in the not-busy off-season – saving you stress, hassle, and sometimes maintenance costs.

Plan ahead and schedule your chimney service during the warmer months – it’s well worth it.

Tip #2: Get Multiple Quotes

When it comes to chimney sweep services, prices can vary depending on the company, location, and specific services required. To ensure you’re getting the best deal, it’s a good idea to get quotes from several different chimney sweep companies. This not only gives you a range of pricing to compare but can also highlight any discrepancies in what each service includes.

But that doesn’t mean going with the cheapest option! Sometimes less experienced or non-certified techs offer value services that really aren’t up to par. Remember that if a deal seems too good to be true…it probably is.

Tip #3: Ask About Their Full List of Services

Working with a comprehensive service provider not only saves you time (and stress), but can sometimes lead to cost savings through bundled services or discounts. Plus, building a relationship with one trusted company is always the preferred route, right?

The last thing anyone wants is to schedule an inspection with a chimney company, only to find out they can’t repair any of the issues they’ve found. Now it’s back to Google, as you search “chimney repair companies near me,” hoping for better luck with the next place you call.

Some companies offer only the basics, so finding a team that’s more full service – like us – can save you time, money, and stress later on. We offer a comprehensive range of services, so we can be your one-stop shop for it all.

Tip #4: Ensure the Company is Certified

Look for companies with certifications from reputable organizations like the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) or the National Fireplace Institute (NFI). Certified professionals have undergone specialized training and are knowledgeable about safety standards, proper cleaning techniques, and how to spot issues that could pose risks down the line.

We’ve got a long list of certifications, membership, and associations, and we have many years of industry experience too. Hire us and gain that peace of mind you deserve.

Tip #5: Remember That Regular Maintenance Helps You Save Long-Term

While it’s easy to view chimney sweeps as an occasional every-few-years task, annual maintenance is key for preventing bigger – more costly – issues later on. Scheduling regular chimney sweeps and inspections with a professional ensures that your chimney remains free of dangerous creosote buildup, and that everything is working as it should be.

By sticking to a consistent maintenance schedule, you can extend the life of your chimney and avoid costly emergency repairs.
